The departing artistic director reflects on his seven years at Orinda’s California Shakespeare Theater.

For many theater lovers, a night at the California Shakespeare Theater’s Bruns Amphitheatre is a breathtaking experience—one that promises a striking outdoor setting in the Orinda hills and a captivating production of a traditional or retold classic. Artistic director Eric Ting has guided the theater company, popularly known as Cal Shakes, through the past seven years but is stepping down at the close of the season before moving to New York City to join his wife and daughter.
