The Tempest – Theatre Space North East

Roker Seafront - Near the Pods Sunderland, United Kingdom

Theatre Space North East brings Kenneth Cavander’s translation of The Tempest to life this August! A magical storm is brewing, as TSNE invites audiences once again to set sail for a summer of open-air Shakespeare with an epic retelling of The Tempest at Roker Seafront. Among the magic and mayhem of the original, a specially assembled “Tempest Ensemble” of local singers use chanties to evoke a sense of Sunderland’s industrial past, overshadowed and overlooked by visitors seeking a “prosperous” future.
