A Lear for Today: Black, Bold, and Biblical in Scope
A recent adaptation of King Lear demonstrates mastery in modern audience engagement

As many of you know, I’ve spent some time covering the theatre scene throughout the pandemic. My interest is both personal and professional. In 2020, after a 23-year hiatus, I rejoined the community of SF Bay Area producers, attempting to apply what I have learned in my work over the years as a branding strategist. I’ve taken an interest in what’s long been a trend but more meaningful today: theatre productions that are designed to engage audiences by blending both new and traditional story sources.
