California Shakespeare Theater has two world premieres on its 2022 lineup, the Orinda theater company announced Monday, Dec. 20, and they’re both new Shakespeare adaptations.
First up is “Romeo y Juliet” (May 25-June 19), a bilingual adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragedy by Karen Zacarías (“Native Gardens”). The show, which is directed by KJ Sanchez (“Quixote Nuevo”), was originally scheduled to be a part of the company’s 2020 season; many of the original cast plan to return.
