About Play On Shakespeare
Play On Shakespeare is a non-profit company promoting and creating contemporary modern English translations of Shakespeare’s plays. Play On partners with artists and organizations across the globe to deliver and advocate for these translations through theatrical productions, podcasts, publications, and film.
Position Description
Play On Shakespeare is seeking a flexible, mid-late career marketing director to be responsible for planning, creating and implementing strategic vision and goals for marketing of this unique company. The right candidate has a proven track record promoting a brand with a multifaceted skill set with big-picture thinking and an eye toward marketing a company with a national and global reach. The position requires excellent communication skills and proven experience with budgeting, content creation, digital marketing, press/publicity, and managing and leading a team. Play On Shakespeare operates within the theater field, but is not a producing company so we are seeking a candidate with experience beyond traditional non-profit theater marketing who can help spread the word about our organization, our publications, and our programs. While this is a remote position, Marketing Director should expect to travel on behalf of Play On to visit partners, attend conferences, and company retreats.

- Collaborates well and champions their own ideas as well as the ideas of others.
- Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to establish good working relationships with coworkers throughout the company, especially in a remote setting
The Basics
Preferred experience includes:
- 10+ Years Experience in the marketing field, including leadership/management positions, without a marketing degree.
- 5+ Years Experience including leadership/management if paired with degrees in marketing, business or related fields.
Preferred Knowledge and experience with:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Google Platform Services
- Airtable Databases
- Marketing software and analytics tools

INTERVIEW PROCESS TIMELINE
Interviewees will be compensated for their time spent meeting with Play On Shakespeare. For Zoom interviews and the collaborative work session, interviewees will receive $59 – equivalent to one full day at the federal per diem rate for Ashland, OR. Candidates invited to an in-person interview will have their travel and housing provided, per diem for meals and essentials provided, and will be compensated for their time.
The aspirational timeline is as follows:
March 15 - Application closes
March 18–22 - Candidate review
March 25–29 - First interviews
April 1–12 - Second interviews
April 22–26 - In-person interviews: location to be determined
