Polly Hubbard

POLLY HUBBARD is the former Director of New Play Development at Steppenwolf Theatre Company where she helped to shepherd new works such as KING JAMES by Rajiv Joseph, PURPOSE by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, and MS BLAKK FOR PRESIDENT by Tina Landau and Tarell Alvin McCraney, among many others.  Prior to this work, Polly served as a Literary Agent with Abrams Artists Agency in New York, where she represented playwrights, composers, directors, and designers.  As a champion of new plays she has worked extensively in the field as a dramaturg, producer, guest lecturer, visiting artist, and she has contributed as a reader/selection panel for various festivals and awards.  At Steppenwolf, Polly founded the current new play development program, Scout, which seeks to bring new talent to Steppenwolf with an eye towards widening the pipeline for underrepresented voices.  Additionally for Steppenwolf, she proudly spearheaded a partnership with the Edgerton Foundation that funded ten new play commissions.  Education: Oberlin College, University of Evansville.
