Position Details
Play On Shakespeare’s Social Media Manager is a core member of our collaborative creative team and is responsible for: telling our brand story, creating and curating brand content, facilitating two way communication with our audiences, capturing testimonials, and delivering on our social media strategy.
This role is charged with maintaining the Company’s social media platforms, tracking analytics, and creating content for online audience development and growth. Serving as a driver of engagement and creativity for the marketing team, the role ensures the Company’s online presence is relevant, current to ongoing social media changes, and growing the knowledge and engagement surrounding Play On Shakespeare.
High quality video and photography are driving engagement on social media, making video-based editing and file management key to success in the role.
Because we’re a deeply collaborative team with integrated workflows, the Social Media Manager will need to keep scheduled office hours and be available to join marketing meetings, respond to emails and google chats, and to participate in asset review processes. We’re enthusiastically committed to this position functioning as a full-time in-house position and will not be considering creative agencies or freelance proposals.

Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Management (50%)
- Utilize Canva, Adobe Premiere Pro, and ShutterStock to produce high quality videos for use on our website and for social media
- Utilize Adobe Premiere Pro’s text-based transcription and editing features to produce transcripts, pull quotes and testimonials, and efficiently produce short video clips as well as compilation videos
- Create and curate a brand-centric content bank of edited videos, finished graphics, and testimonials that proactively supports organization goals
- Collaborate with Play On Shakespeare’s in-house graphic designer on social graphic and design needs, templates, and visual approach
- Collaboratively support the marketing team’s collection and organization of partner and audience testimonials in our curated testimonial database so they can be utilized to support marketing goals
- Maintain an organized media library in Google Drive that makes partner and production photos and videos accessible organization-wide, ensuring production billing and photo credits are clear and easy to reference
- Anticipate and proactively cultivate opportunities to capture relevant and engaging content for brand storytelling
Social Media Management & Execution (30%)
- Regularly create and post authentically human and brand-aligned posts that reflect who we are, what we do, and why it matters
- Build and manage a social media calendar in Monday.com, ensuring social media platform milestones are visible to the full company and are in collaboration with other Marketing Team calendars
- Interact with audiences on all active social media accounts, engaging with partners’ content, tagging and collabing with partners, responding to messages to create an ongoing conversation online, and ensuring the engagement of audiences across platforms
- Track social analytics and use analytics insights to inform content decision making, messaging, and storytelling approach
- Pitch and build social media campaigns to support marketing goals
- Ensure Play On Shakespeare’s brand is consistent across all social media platforms
- Track social media trends and research emerging techniques and tools to ensure social content and strategic approach is current and aimed for growth
- Work with Play On Shakespeare’s marketing director to identify new strategies for growing social audiences and engagement.
Creative Collaboration & Ideation (10%)
- Collaboratively help develop new ideas for telling our brand story, delivering on our strategic plan, centering and celebrating our artists, and for supporting our education and production partners.
- Make meaningful creative contributions in our marketing team brainstorm sessions as well as marketing calls with partners.
- Brainstorm copy for ads, campaigns, web copy, etc.
- Collaborate on content capture preparations, including contributing to interview questions, shot lists, etc.
- Bring your creative energy to the table to help team members workshop their projects and ideas.
- Provide live-time feedback and suggestions in workshop sessions as we screen share and edit marketing deliverables together.
- Give clear, actionable, thoughtful feedback when reviewing team members’ work.
- Be receptive to feedback from colleagues and stakeholders, and open to evolving a project based on insights shared during meetings and asset reviews.
Administration and Project Management (10%)
- Use Monday.com to manage your tasks effectively, organize your work, and collaborate with teammates on project deliverables.
- Use a shared Google Drive system for organizing easy-to-find shared project documents — from copy docs to project plans and photos/videos.
- Participate in weekly marketing team meetings to collaborate on team projects and report out on social needs and performance.
- Participate in company meetings, activities, retreats, conferences, and new initiatives, contributing to marketing team and company projects where applicable and assigned.
- Share social media assets with partners and participating artists for co-sharing on their platforms, clearly communicating any required crediting or permissions for sharing Play On Shakespeare assets
- Serve as the liaison for other social media leads with our partners facilitating collaborations, social takeovers, etc
- Work with partners to brainstorm content creation and collect existing content for sharing across multiple social media platforms and cross-promoting partnerships

Preferred Knowledge and Experience Includes:
- 3+ years experience managing social media, including content generation, social
- posting, ad development, and social inbox and comment management experience
- 3+ years video editing experience
- 1+ years social advertising experience
- Previous customer service, client management, or community management experience
- Familiarity with:
- Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Premiere Pro
- Canva
- Google Platform Services
- Social platforms including: Facebook, Instagram, Meta Business Suite, YouTube, and Bluesky
- Monday.com

Interview Process Timeline
Interviewees will be compensated for their time spent meeting with Play On Shakespeare. For all interviews, interviewees will receive $68 – equivalent to one full day at the federal per diem rate for Ashland, OR. Candidates invited to any in-person interview(s) will have their travel and housing provided, per diem for meals and essentials provided, and will be compensated for their time.
